Trump says he is ‘very unhappy’ with Israeli raid on Doha

US President Donald Trump has finally broken his silence on the Israeli raid on top Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar. He said he was not happy with the manner in which Israel carried out its raid on top Hamas leaders in Qatar, which could jeopardize the future of peace talks in Gaza. “I’m not happy with the whole situation. It’s not good. But one thing I can say is we want the prisoners back, but we’re not happy with the way it happened,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday evening (September 9) local time. Some of Trump’s advisers have expressed anger at Israel’s decision to raid Qatar. According to a US official, Trump was not informed in advance of the raid – not by Israel, but by the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Kaine. Trump then immediately ordered White House special envoy Steve Witkoff to make a statement in Qatar. Another US official said that by the time Witkoff tried to contact the Qataris, it was too late. Witkoff met with a top Netanyahu adviser on Monday, but he was not told about the impending attack during the talks.
