Trump praises Pakistan for attack on Afghanistan
US President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan for conducting ‘Operation Ghazwa al-Haq’ against the Afghan Taliban. This information has come to light in a report published in Hindustan Times today (February 28). The report said that while talking to reporters on Friday, Donald Trump said, ‘Pakistan is doing a great job.’
On this day, Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on important military installations of the Afghan Taliban government in Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia. A military spokesman said that insurgents have been repelled at 53 places along the border and restraint has been shown to avoid civilian casualties.
Meanwhile, according to official estimates, 297 people have been killed and more than 450 injured so far. 89 Taliban posts have been destroyed and 18 have been captured. In addition, 135 tanks and armored vehicles have been destroyed and airstrikes have been carried out on 29 places in Afghanistan. Before leaving for Texas, the US President said that his relations with Pakistan are very good.
On this day, he praised Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling them “great leaders”. Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an immediate ceasefire in the face of intense fighting between the two neighboring countries.
His spokesman said Guterres expressed deep concern about the impact of the violence on civilians and called for a diplomatic solution. Mirjana Spoliaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, also called for a de-escalation, saying “the renewed violence in areas affected by protracted conflict is exacerbating the suffering of ordinary people.”
