Trump not happy with Mojtaba Khamenei’s nomination
US President Donald Trump has now opened up about the sudden nomination of Mojtaba Khamenei as the next Supreme Leader of Iran.
Fox News’ popular host Brian Kilmeade claimed in a report that Trump told him in a private conversation that he was not happy with the decision at all. According to Kilmeade, Trump directly told him about this political change in Tehran, “I am not happy with it at all.”
Although Donald Trump has not made any official statement about the nomination in public or on social media, his personal comments are gaining importance in world politics. It is believed that the appointment of a successor to a hardline and former leader in power in Iran like Mojtaba Khamenei could further increase the existing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
There is now much speculation in the international community whether Trump’s dissatisfaction is an indication of a tougher US stance on Iran in the coming days or a sign of new sanctions.
