Trump hints at killing Iran’s new supreme leader
US President Donald Trump has hinted that potential successors to Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could also be killed in the conflict, Iran International reported. “Their (Iran’s) leadership is declining very quickly. Whoever wants to be a leader eventually dies,” Trump said on Wednesday (March 4), local time.
He said the United States is now in a “very strong position” in the ongoing tensions with Iran and praised the country’s military strength. He added, “Someone asked me how many out of 10? I said about 15.”
The US president said, “There is no one in the world as strong as our military. We are in a very strong position now.” However, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli strike last Saturday (February 28). He was the country’s top religious leader for 36 years.
The Iran International news agency reported yesterday that his son Mojtaba has been elected as the country’s new supreme leader following his death. The news agency reported that Iran’s Assembly of Experts elected Mojtaba as the new leader under pressure from the Revolutionary Guard.
