Truck catches fire after IPS explosion in Ullapara
A truck caught fire after an IPS explosion in Ullapara, Sirajganj. The incident took place on Tuesday (December 23) evening in the Kayapara area of the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway under the Salanga police station of the upazila. The fire burned the furniture (goods) of the house in the truck. However, no major damage was caused as the fire was quickly brought under control.
Witnesses said that when a truck carrying furniture from Rajshahi to Dhaka reached the Kayapara area, the IPS in the truck suddenly exploded and the goods caught fire. Seeing the fire, pedestrians quickly signaled the truck driver to stop the vehicle. The driver immediately stopped the truck. Later, with the help of locals, the fire was brought under control after about 20 minutes of effort by taking water from an irrigation pump used for agricultural work next to the highway.
Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Ismail Hossain confirmed the incident and said that after receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the fire under control with the help of locals. The fire started when the IPS battery and the truck’s rod collided. Some of the truck’s goods were burnt in the fire, but there was no major damage.
