Several rings of buying and selling stolen car and train oil become active on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at night. Syndicate members are active at Mastannagar station of Zorarganj police station in Mirsarai, Talbadia railway station in Mirsarai municipality, Chhota Kamaldaha, Baratabakya, Mastannagar on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Around 1 am on Tuesday, Zorarganj police station arrested a man named Md. Rashedul Islam (23) for his involvement in stealing car oil. At that time, a pickup truck and 540 liters of diesel were seized from him for selling stolen oil. Rashedul is the son of Sirajul Islam of Paragalpur village of Zorarganj police station.
Eyewitness BSRM company driver Md. Abhi said that at night, drivers of various vehicles sell oil at low prices to several syndicates. Sometimes, when the car is parked, the gang members steal the oil. Abhi said, “Drivers do not go to the police station when oil is stolen. They explain it to the police station on their own. If the police and administration are active, the theft and sale of oil will stop.”
Abdur Rahman, a resident of Mastannagar area, said that when he goes out for a walk in the morning, he often sees a gang stealing oil from trains. This gang also does its misdeeds at night. Even if someone sees it, they do not protest for fear of attack.
OC ATM Shifatul Mazdar of Zorarganj Police Station said that a stolen diesel dealer named Rashedul Islam has been arrested. At that time, a pickup truck and 540 liters of diesel were seized. The police team is working on the highway even at night. Everyone involved in the theft of oil will be brought to justice.
