Trader fined for illegally storing 11,000 liters of oil in Natore
A mobile court has fined a businessman Tk 1 lakh for illegally storing 11,000 liters of diesel, octane and petrol in Singra, Natore. The fine was imposed on Altaf Sheikh, owner of Asha Traders in Sherkol Bazar of the upazila, on Monday (March 30) afternoon.
Singra Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Rifat said that a raid was conducted on Messrs. Asha Traders in Sherkol Bazar of the upazila based on specific information about illegal storage of oil amid the ongoing fuel crisis. At that time, 49 barrels of diesel, 5 barrels of octane, 2 barrels of petrol and 2 barrels of lubricant were recovered from there illegally stored. More than 11,000 liters of fuel oil was found there. At that time, Altaf Sheikh, owner of M/s. Asha Traders, was fined Tk 1 lakh and sentenced to two months in prison for failing to pay the money as he could not show valid documents. He also said that tag officers will be appointed from the upazila administration for the sale of this fuel oil.
