Three arrested with foreign weapons in the capital
Rapid Action Battalion-10 has arrested three people with weapons from an abandoned house in the capital’s Jurain area. RAB claims that they are involved in various terrorist activities including drug trafficking, extortion. A press release sent by RAB-10 Assistant Director (Media) Assistant Superintendent of Police Shamim Hasan Sardar said that on Tuesday (July 8) at around 10 pm, RAB learned based on intelligence information that some people were staying with firearms in an abandoned house in Jurain Bou-Bazar under Kadamtali police station. On receiving the information, a RAB-10 operation team conducted a raid at the house around 10:30 pm and arrested three people along with a foreign pistol, a magazine and two rounds of bullets. The arrested are Md. Shakil (36), son of the deceased Sabur Mia of Jurain Sweet Shop area, Md. Rubel (34), son of Md. Nur Islam of Jurain Bou-Bazar area, and Md. Moktar Bhuiyan (40), son of Khokon Bhuiyan of the same area. RAB claimed that all the arrested are illegal drug dealers, armed terrorists and extortionists. For some time, they had been dominating the drug trade in various areas including Jurain Bou-Bazar under Kadamtali police station by threatening them with illegal weapons, conducting extortion and various types of terrorist activities and buying and selling firearms. There are nine drug cases against the arrested Md. Shakil in different police stations and two drug cases against Md. Rubel. The process of filing cases against the three arrested in the relevant police stations is under process, according to the RAB press release.
