Those tasked with investigating Jahanara’s allegations
The BCB has formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the sexual harassment allegations made by Bangladesh national women’s team cricketer Jahanara Alam. The committee will submit its investigation report and recommendations within a total of 15 working days.
The convener of the three-member committee is former Justice Tariq ul Hakim of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. BCB Director Rubaba Daula and Bangladesh Nari Krira Samity President and Supreme Court Senior Advocate Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla are also members.
Recently, Jahanara has accused former national women’s cricket team selector and team manager Manjurul Islam Manju and the late former in-charge Towhid Mahmud of sexual harassment. She claimed that she did not get any redressal even after complaining to the BCB in this regard.
Later, several other cricketers have spoken out on the issue. In addition, allegations of grouping have also been made against several important cricketers currently playing in the national team. The BCB has formed this committee to investigate everything.
