There will be no misunderstanding between us: Information Advisor
Advisor to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md Nahid Islam believes that there will not be any kind of misunderstanding between the political parties and the government and the students who participated in the July-August movement.
He said this at the press institute of Bangladesh (PIB) auditorium today, Wednesday afternoon, at the grant check distribution ceremony from the Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The information adviser said, “Our first duty is to return the students their political rights. I think the interim government will first organize student council elections in universities, before national or any other elections.
Nahid Islam said, ‘Students want the good of the country and want to rebuild the country. They are seeking the help of political parties for this. Demands for reform of student politics in universities are strong, but no political party is addressing them. As many times as the political parties talked about the national elections, they did not talk about the student council elections even once. But the words of the students must be remembered. They should be given the highest priority.
He said, ‘Our youth should have a big role in new Bangladesh. We have to think about employment. But this movement has started for employment. As a result, we should not forget the dynamite of our movement. But the movement was started by the students, the universities started it. As a result, what are our thoughts about the universities, what are the thoughts of the political parties; But no one is saying that.
Nahid Islam said, “Students have led and given blood. However, I saw in the newspaper that day that a member of the standing committee of a political party said, “Why should we discuss with the students, let the government call us.” This kind of statement is very sad.
However, expressing optimism, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement said, “I hope there will be no misunderstanding between us.” We all want the good of the country and want to rebuild the country. Defeated fascism forces must be removed from all levels of society.’
Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust Mahbooba Farzana, PIB Director General (DG) Farooq Wasif, Chief Information Officer of Directorate of Information Nizamul Kabir, Managing Director of Journalist Welfare Trust Muhammad Abdullah and members of Journalist Welfare Trust also spoke on the occasion.
