    The United States tops the list of remittance senders.

    Bangladesh has received the most remittances or expatriate income in the last three months from The United State. This is followed by the Middle Eastern country of the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh Bank has given this information.

    According to a report by the news agency UNB, remittances from the United States to Bangladesh have increased significantly after the political changes on August 5 due to the student uprising. In this, the United States has surpassed the United Arab Emirates in terms of foreign exchange flow.

    Bangladesh Bank has published a detailed report on the remittances sent by expatriates from September to November for the three months of the 2024-2025 fiscal year. It shows that 1.4 billion US dollars came to Bangladesh from the United States during this period. Next is the United Arab Emirates. This Middle Eastern country received 990 million dollars. The top countries receiving remittances in Bangladesh are Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, Italy, Oman, Qatar and Singapore.

    According to Bangladesh Bank remittances from the United States in August were 293.4 million US dollars and in September it increased by 34 percent to 390 million dollars. In the past few months Bangladeshis living in the United States have increased their remittances. In October, $500 million came from the world’s top economy up 28 percent from September. And in November $511.9 million came from the United States.

    On January 11 Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur said, “There is nothing to panic about, the central bank still has four months of reserves. But we have to be careful.”

    Stating that the biggest crisis among Bangladeshis living abroad is the political division Ahsan H. Mansur said, “Everyone has to lobby for Bangladesh, otherwise it is impossible to stand with their heads held high politically.”

    The governor also said that the government is spending Tk 7,000 crore annually due to the 2.5 percent incentive to bring remittances through banking channels.
