    The third wave of the cold wave took Panchagarh’s temperatures at 9-degree.

    This time, below 10-degree temperatures are again recorded in Panchagarh, and as a result, the third wave of a mild cold wave has made this northern border district its home so that people of this town go through a bone-chilling cold after such records in the second week of Paush.

    It was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius at 9 am today, Tuesday. The temperature was 11.2 degrees Celsius at 9 am yesterday, Monday. A second wave of mild cold wave blew at 9.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

    It might be viewed that the sun is shining in the early morning in different areas. The people of this northern district are taking the bitter cold due to the cold wind coming from the north. The daily laborers, stone workers, tea workers, farmers, and various low-income people have gone to work in the morning.

    People from low-income professions say, ‘The temperature rises and falls. But we really feel the cold in this region. What a cold wave, what a temperature. We feel cold as ice all night. Today it feels more cold again. But even though it is cold, there is no opportunity to stay at home. We have to go to work, ignoring the severe cold, to feed our families.’

    Winter is coupled with an endless number of colds, coughs, pneumonias, and many other respiratory diseases. Day after day, the outpatient departments of district and upazila hospitals were very crowded. Only the seriously ill people are being admitted to the hospital. Along with the treatment, doctors were advising how to stay safe during winter.

    Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of the first class Tentulia Meteorological Observatory of the district, said, ‘Today the mercury has fallen again to 9 degrees. A mild cold wave is blowing in the region at this temperature. Today, Tuesday at 9 am, the temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, Monday at 9 am, the temperature was recorded at 11.2 degrees Celsius. The second spell of mild cold wave blew on Sunday with a temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius.
