The search committee has asked for names to form the EC

The search committee formed in this regard has sought names for the formation of the new Election Commission (EC). The search committee has issued a notification in this regard on Sunday evening.

According to the notification, the search committee formed to recommend the names of qualified persons to the President for the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners as per the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners Act, 2022 is inviting names of interested persons.

Political parties and professional organizations can propose the names of up to 5 people to be recommended for the post of Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners by 5 pm on November 7. Individuals also interested can suggest their respective names.

It further said, the notification requested to send the proposed name along with complete CV directly to the Cabinet Department or through e-mail (gfp_sec@cabinet.gov.bd).

On October 31, the government formed a search committee to recommend to the president for the formation of a new commission by appointing the chief election commissioner and other commissioners.
