The leader who sat on the lap of the female journalist, expressed his sorrow

Tanmoy Bhattacharya, the CPM leader of Barahnagar, West Bengal, India expressed his sorrow in the face of controversy. However, he said he did not know whether the comment he made on Monday about the weight of the female journalist was body shaming or not.

Indian media Sangam daily reported that Tanmoy Bhattacharya appeared at the Barahnagar police station on Tuesday after being accused of sitting on the lap of a female journalist. He also appeared at the police station yesterday. Tanmoy spoke to reporters after leaving the police station yesterday.

He said, “Lady’s weight is not more than 40 kg. My weight is 83 kg. If a man weighing 83 kg sits on the lap of a woman weighing 40 kg, I don’t know whether that woman is physically fit or not.’

When the criticism of yesterday’s statement started, Tanmay explained about it today. He said, ‘I don’t understand the meaning of body shaming, but I am sorry if any woman is hurt by my words. In fact, my wife was the first to compare the weight when discussing this at home. Based on that word, I have already said that. I don’t know whether it’s body shaming or not, I don’t understand. But I am sincerely sorry if I have hurt anyone.

Meanwhile, Trinamool leaders of Baranagar have decided to take out a protest march against Tanmoy Bhattacharya today.

It may be noted that last Sunday a woman journalist came on Facebook Live and complained that she had gone to Tanmoy Bhattacharya’s house to interview him. At this time, Tanmoy sat on his lap.
