The Jubo League leader Zamir Uddin Chowdhury was arrested

Former Chhatra League and Upazila Jubo League leader Zamir Uddin Chowdhury (48) has been arrested by the police on charges of attempted murder after killing his wife by slitting her throat in Chandnaish of Chittagong. The incident took place in Ward No. 1 of Hashimpur Union of Upazila on Monday.

According to police and local residents, Zamir Uddin Chowdhury killed his wife Beauty Akhtar by slitting her throat with a knife. Later, to kill the mother, he took her to her bedroom and kept her locked for 5 hours with a knife on her throat.

On receiving the information, Chandnaish Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imran Al Hussain, Major Fazle Rabi, led by army and fire service personnel rescued Zamir’s mother alive and took her to Chandnaish Sadar Hospital with the help of the local public. At that time Zamir was arrested by the police.

OC Imran Al Hussain confirmed the incident.
