The IGP ordered to strengthen the special operation
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam has directed the heads of all units to strengthen ongoing special operations against terrorists, robberies, extortion, drugs, juvenile gangs, traffic management etc. The IGP gave this order in a special message on Monday.
It is said in the message that action is being taken against the accused in important murder cases including those who attacked the students in the anti-discrimination movement in the nationwide special campaign that started on October 18.
Combing operations are being conducted in crime prone areas crime zones in the ongoing operation. Along with the permanent police checkposts, temporary checkposts have been set up. Police patrols have been strengthened and intelligence surveillance has been increased. Mobile patrol and motorcycle patrol teams have been increased.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has 150 permanent and mobile checkposts operational in the area. 300 motorcycle teams and 250 patrol teams are operational. Apart from this, legal action against criminals continues to be taken nationwide.
In the past, those who were involved in various types of misdeeds including extortion, tender bidding, terrorist activities under the umbrella of political parties have also been prosecuted, arrested and legal action is ongoing.
200 robbers, extortionists, robbers in the ongoing special operation until October 27; 16 listed terrorists; 1 thousand 140 people who attacked the anti-discrimination student movement; 1 thousand 144 people and 55 people with illegal weapons have been arrested in connection with drug recovery.
