The government decided the new price of eggs
Directorate General of Consumer Affairs Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan held a meeting with the traders to implement the pre-fixed price of chicken eggs at producer, wholesale and retail levels to regulate the egg market & decided the new price of eggs. The meeting was held with egg producers and suppliers on Tuesday afternoon.
In the meeting, it was decided to deliver the eggs directly to the wholesalers to prevent the violence of middlemen brokers in the egg trade. Apart from this, apart from the wholesale market, the producers can sell eggs directly to the consumer in the big markets of the capital.
It was informed in the meeting that for the next two weeks, the egg producing companies will supply eggs directly to the dealers in Tejgaon and Kaptan markets at the reasonable price fixed by the government. Besides, the media has been requested to publicize the price of eggs daily for the information of the consumers.
After the meeting, the director general of the consumer department said that it has been decided to sell eggs at 10 taka 91 paisa at producer level, wholesale at 11 taka 1 paisa and retail at 11 taka 87 paisa from Wednesday. However, at the consumer level, you have to spend 142 taka 44 paisa to buy every dozen eggs.
He said that everyone will work together to ensure that the prices of daily necessities including eggs do not increase and the supply remains normal.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection is conducting regular operations in the market to implement the fixed price of eggs. Even then the price did not decrease. On the other hand, traders in Tejgaon have stopped selling eggs. Many retailers also closed shops yesterday or reduced sales.
