Thailand and Cambodia conflict enters third day

The Southeast Asian neighbors Thailand and Cambodia are locked in a third day of conflict. Early Saturday, Phnom Penh launched an attack on Thailand’s Trat province, but Bangkok repelled it. Earlier, Cambodia called for an immediate ceasefire after two days of border clashes between the two countries. Cambodia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Chea Keo, said his country had offered an unconditional ceasefire; and Phnom Penh wanted a peaceful resolution to the dispute. Thailand has not yet officially commented on the ceasefire proposal. Earlier, Cambodia imposed martial law in eight districts bordering the country.
