Temperature drops to 12 degrees in Panchagarh
Along with the winter mood across the country, the temperature in Panchagarh, the northernmost district of the country, has been dropping rapidly for the past few days. The lowest temperature in the country at 6 am today, Wednesday (November 12), was 12.8 degrees Celsius in Tentulia, Panchagarh. Basically, winter has begun in the entire Rangpur division. The Meteorological Office said that the surrounding areas will be covered in a blanket of fog from evening to 10 am. Fog will be seen in some places during the day too. Because there is a lot of water vapor in the air. As a result, sunlight does not reach the surface properly, resulting in rapid cold at night and dense fog in the morning. This type of weather is usually seen during the turn of winter and summer. However, one of the main reasons for this is climate change.
Yesterday, Tuesday (November 11), the temperature at the same place was 14.5 degrees Celsius. That is, the temperature has dropped by about two degrees Celsius in a day. Auto driver Alam Hossain said, “Even if I turn on the headlights due to fog in the morning, the road ahead cannot be seen. Now, there are not many passengers in the morning.” Motorcycle driver Karim Hasan said, “I went out for urgent work in the morning, but my hands feel numb in this cold.” Meanwhile, Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said that the temperature is gradually decreasing at present. A mild cold wave may blow towards the end of November. After that, there is a possibility of multiple cold waves blowing in Panchagarh and surrounding areas throughout December.
