Telegram is banned in Ukraine
Ukraine bans Russian app Telegram. The country claims that Russia knows the location of Ukrainian officials and military personnel through this popular messaging app. Which is giving them extra support in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. This information is known from a report of the British news agency Reuters.
According to reports, Ukraine has banned its officials and military personnel from using the Telegram app on their official devices. Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council has banned its military personnel and civilian employees from using the Telegram messaging app on official devices for their own safety.
On Friday, an official issued such a ban on the use of the Telegram app.
The press service of the Security Council of Ukraine said in an announcement on social media Facebook that the decision to ban the use of the Telegram messaging app was made at a meeting of the National Cyber Security Coordination Center on Thursday.
Officials, military personnel, security and defense personnel and critical infrastructure operators are prohibited from installing and using Telegram on office devices.
Russia is tagging Telegram users for phishing and cyber-attacks, according to representatives of Ukraine’s intelligence services as the reason behind Telegram’s ban. As a result, they are getting user’s geo-location data. Which is being used for air strikes.
