Teenage girl commits suicide after ‘phone was taken away’
A teenage girl has reportedly committed suicide in Gazipur’s Sreepur after being banned from using her phone. The incident took place at 10:30 am today, Sunday (January 11) in Nagarhawla village of Sreepur upazila. The teenager is a resident of Aliganj area of Narayanganj.
Police and local sources said that she had an argument with her parents about using her mobile phone around 9 am yesterday, Saturday. At one point, her parents took away her mobile phone. It is believed that she committed suicide this morning after being shocked by the mobile phone being taken away. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered her body hanging. Later, the body was sent to the morgue.
Confirming the matter, Sreepur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Tajul Islam said that the teenage girl’s body has been recovered from the spot. The body has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Further legal action is being taken in this incident.
