Tarique Rahman of Aam Janata Dal breaks hunger strike

At the request of BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, member secretary of ‘Aam Janata Dal’ Tarique Rahman finally broke his hunger strike. He had been on a hunger strike at the main gate of Agargaon Nirbhaban since last Tuesday demanding the party’s registration.
After about 133 hours of hunger strike, Tarique Rahman was taken to the capital’s Gonoshasthaya Hospital in an ambulance in the presence of BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed at around 8:30 pm on Sunday (November 9).
Salahuddin said, I spoke to the Election Commission (EC) today to reconsider his application. I hope his party will get justice. I requested Tarique to break his hunger strike. He has made the request. He has been taken to the hospital.
It is worth noting that when the EC decided to register two parties on November 4, Tarique’s Aam Janata Dal was dropped from the race for registration. Then, around 4 pm, he began a hunger strike in front of the main gate of the Election Building in Agargaon.
