Tanu died of poisoning due to frustration after writing wrong registration number in HSC exam

An HSC examinee named Tanu Chandra Das (18) died of poisoning in Tajumuddin, Bhola. The family claims that he chose suicide out of frustration after writing wrong registration number in the exam book. On Monday (July 28), the doctor on duty declared Tanu dead after taking him to the 250-bed General Hospital in Bhola at around 12:30 am. Tanu is the only daughter of teacher Bitis Chandra Das and housewife Ujjwala Rani Das, residents of Shayestakandi village in Chandpur union of Tajumuddin upazila. She was a student of the science department of Tajumuddin Women’s College and was appearing in this year’s HSC exam. Tanu’s mother Ujjwala Rani said that Tanu became restless after returning home from the Biology first paper exam on Monday. She became worried thinking that she had written wrong registration number in the exam book. Although her family members consoled her, at around 9 pm, they suddenly heard her screams and went to the room to see that Tonu had consumed the pesticide kept at home for use in the betel nut. She was quickly taken to the Tajumuddin Upazila Health Complex and from there sent to Bhola Sadar Hospital. However, she died before reaching the hospital. Dr. Md. Junayed Hossain, Medical Officer of the Emergency Department of the 250-bed Bhola General Hospital, said that the girl died before being brought to the hospital. The matter has been confirmed through necessary tests. Tajumuddin Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mohabbat Khan said that initially it was learned that she consumed poison out of frustration due to writing the registration number wrongly in the examination book. The matter is being investigated.
