Suicide bomb blast in Islamabad High Court parking lot kills 12

A suicide blast in the Pakistani capital Islamabad has killed at least 12 people and injured more than 20. The incident took place in the parking lot of the Judicial Complex on Tuesday afternoon (November 11). International media outlet CNN reported this information.
The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital authorities told reporters that the condition of many of the injured is critical. A senior Pakistani security official confirmed to CNN that it was a suicide bombing and an investigation is underway considering this aspect. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari issued a statement strongly condemning the “suicide explosion”.
It is worth noting that Islamabad is a city with very tight security. In particular, the High Court and Judicial Complex areas are the center of movement of high-ranking government officials and judges. Despite such security, such attacks are considered very rare and worrying for Pakistan.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, a security source told CNN that it is initially suspected that militant groups linked to the Afghan Taliban and India-linked groups may have been behind the attack.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif posted on X, “Pakistan is now in a state of war. This attack in Islamabad is a direct message from Afghanistan. It is a warning to us. I swear to God, Pakistan will take full revenge.”
Since the Taliban took over Kabul in 2021, attacks by Islamist militants, including the TTP, in Pakistan have increased significantly. Many are seeing the attack as Kabul’s “revenge” after the failure of Pakistan-Afghanistan peace talks in Istanbul last week. A day earlier, militants attacked a cadet college in northwest Pakistan. A high alert has been issued across Islamabad. A full investigation into the attack is underway.
