    Strict government to control law and order

    The government has taken a tough stance to curb various types of crimes including theft, robbery, extortion, and kidnapping across the country, including the capital. As part of this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a set of decisions. In addition to special operations in crime-prone areas, it has been decided to strengthen patrol activities of RAB-police. To this end, a core committee meeting was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday under the chairmanship of Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. The decisions were taken after reviewing the overall law and order situation in the country.

    According to the decision of the meeting, a joint force will be formed comprising various units of the army, police, and BGB members to conduct strong operations in target areas. At the same time, the number of check posts at important points in the capital and patrols in crime-prone areas will be increased. The work of implementing the decision has already started.

    The meeting was attended by Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Khoda Box Chowdhury and other senior law enforcement officials.

    Other decisions taken in the meeting include – an additional patrol of the Navy and an additional patrol of the Coast Guard will be deployed on some important roads of the capital. Various unit heads of the police, deputy police commissioners, brigade heads deployed in the army field and other responsible officials will brief the media from time to time in each incident. Apart from this, it has also been decided to purchase motorcycles for DMP police members, BGB, Ansar and Bangladesh Coast Guard members, so that criminals can be caught by patrolling the alleys immediately.

    As per the decision of the core committee, patrolling of the law enforcement agencies will be increased outside Dhaka city, especially in Tongi, Bachila, Keraniganj and Munshiganj areas. 500 APBN members will be assigned to the DMP and work with the police. In addition, the law enforcement agencies will take urgent steps to bring terrorists under the law by updating the list of police stations. It was also decided to take various steps to disseminate true information against lies, rumors and propaganda.

    Meanwhile, RAB-Police have already started a special operation alongside the joint forces to implement the decision of the core committee. Patrol activities have been strengthened. To supervise the implementation of the decision, Khoda Box Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, visited the Special Command Center set up at the Police Headquarters on Tuesday. He was informed about the activities there and gave directions.

    On Tuesday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that police activities have been strengthened in the Dhaka Metropolitan area to maintain public safety and the law and order situation. To this end, coordinated checkposts and patrol activities have been increased in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, including the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

    On the other hand, 1,638 people have been arrested in the last 24 hours for ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ and other crimes across the country. Of these, 639 people have been arrested in Operation Devil Hunt. This information was given by AIG (Media and PR) Enamul Haque Sagar of the Police Headquarters on Tuesday.

    DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department said that from 12:00 am on Monday, 250 patrol teams were on duty in 50 DMP police stations in the next 24 hours to ensure public safety. In addition, 54 police check posts were operated by DMP at various important and strategic locations to increase security in the metropolitan area. In addition to the DMP patrol teams, seven CTTC, four Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) and 10 RAB patrol teams were on duty in various crime-prone areas of the metropolis to maintain public safety and law and order. In addition to the DMP check posts, the police’s specialized unit APBN operates 31 check posts. 248 people involved in various crimes were arrested in various places by conducting raids at various places. Local weapons and drugs were seized from them. 59 cases were registered in various police stations of DMP in these incidents.

    A press release sent to the media from the Legal and Media Wing of RAB yesterday said that in recent times, some miscreants and vested interests in different places across the country have been trying to create panic in the public by deteriorating the law and order situation in the country through attacks and sabotage. In this situation, RAB’s operational activities including setting up robust patrols and check posts have been strengthened to arrest terrorists who are creating instability and planning, theft, kidnapping, robbers and illegal weapons in different places of the country. In coordination with other law enforcement agencies, a total of 218 patrols have been deployed across the country, including 69 patrols in Dhaka and 149 patrols outside Dhaka, and RAB’s intelligence surveillance in plain clothes has been increased. In addition, the public has been requested to call 01777-720029 to get RAB’s assistance in case of any kind of chaos.
