Stolen newborn baby rescued

Police have recovered a one-day-old newborn baby stolen from a private hospital in Narsingdi within a span of 12 hours. Police have recovered a one-day-old newborn baby 12 hours after it was stolen from a private hospital in Narsingdi. The newborn baby was recovered from Rajabari village in Raipura upazila of the district at around 1:30 am on Sunday (August 10). A woman named Fatema Begum (35) has been arrested in this incident. Detained Fatema Begum is the daughter of Mokhlesur Rahman of Rajabari area of ​​Marjal union in Raipura and the wife of Md. Sirajul Islam of Kumartek area of ​​Shibpur upazila. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narsingdi Sadar Model Police Station Mohammad Emdadul Haque said that the identity of the suspected thief was identified by reviewing the CCTV footage of the hospital immediately after the newborn was stolen. Based on a secret tip-off, Fatema Begum was arrested along with the newborn in a raid conducted in Rajabari village at night. Later, the newborn was returned to her mother’s arms. Earlier, on Sunday (August 10), around 2 pm, a newborn was stolen from the National Health Care Hospital in the Basail area of Narsingdi city. The newborn is the child of CNG driver Sharif Mia and his wife Mithila Begum from the Baroi Algi area of Shibpur upazila of the district. Relatives alleged that such theft occurred due to mismanagement and negligence of the hospital authorities. Mithila gave birth to a son through surgery on Saturday (August 9) afternoon. But the newborn went missing from the hospital cabin on Sunday afternoon. After this, when a tense situation arose in the hospital, the police went to control the situation. Police said that legal action is underway against Fatema Begum in the case of newborn theft based on the family’s written complaint.
