Standing Committee members is going to meet Khaleda Zia today.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to be met by members of the party’s standing committee today, Sunday. Party sources said that before leaving for London for treatment, she will meet members of the party’s highest policy-making forum.
In this regard, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said members of the party’s national standing committee will meet the Chairperson at her Gulshan residence at 8 pm.
Khaleda Zia is expected to leave Dhaka for London at 10 pm on January 7. From there, she will likely travel to the United States for advanced treatment. It is learnt that the BNP Chairperson might perform Umrah on her return journey.
Meanwhile, after the go-ahead decision went abroad, the Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman met the BNP Chairperson on January 2.
Sources in the BNP said Khaleda Zia would be taken to London in a long-haul specialized air ambulance for advanced treatment. A list of at least 16 people accompanying Khaleda Zia has already been given to the Foreign Ministry.
Incidentally, Khaleda Zia was released by executive order on August 6, the day after the Awami League government fell on August 5 in a student-public uprising. 80-year-old Khaleda Zia is suffering from various complications including arthritis, heart disease, lung, liver, kidney, and diabetes.
