Stabbing incident in fuel dispute at Gaibandha pump, 3 injured

A minor dispute over fuel led to an argument and stabbing incident at the Palashbari filling station of Gaibandha Municipality. Three youths were seriously injured in the incident. Police immediately conducted a raid and arrested one person.
The incident took place at around 11:30 am today, Thursday (April 9) at the M/s Palashbari filling station of the municipality. Upon receiving information about the incident, the upazila administration and police quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control and normalized the law and order situation.
Eyewitnesses said that tension arose due to the long queue of motorcycle riders to get fuel at the filling station. He started arguing with a youth named Rezwan over standing in the queue. At one point, when the situation became heated, Rezwan got angry and took out a sharp weapon he had and stabbed him indiscriminately.
Three youths named Kausar, Zahid and Sihab were seriously injured on the spot. Later, locals quickly rescued them and admitted them to the Palashbari Upazila Health Complex. Among the injured, Sihab’s condition was critical and he was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
In this regard, Palashbari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Sheikh Jaber Ahmed said, this undesirable situation has arisen over a trivial incident. As soon as we received the news, we went to the spot and normalized the situation. One person involved in the incident has been arrested and the matter is being looked into seriously.
Confirming the matter, Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarwar Alam Khan said, one person involved in the incident has already been arrested. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving a written complaint. Meanwhile, there is anxiety and tension in the area after the incident. Locals said that it has become urgent to ensure the safety of the common people who come to the filling station to get fuel.
