SSF deployed at Evercare for Khaleda Zia’s security

A Special Security Force (SSF) has been deployed at Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, the capital, for the security of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment. The SSF began performing this duty as part of the VVIP protocol at around 2:30 pm today, Tuesday (December 2).
According to hospital sources, seven SSF officers arrived at the hospital around 2:30 pm and took charge of Khaleda Zia’s security. PGR Deputy Commander Colonel Imtiaz and Major Ahnaf were present with them at the time.
The SSF members have taken positions in the hospital’s car parking area and around Khaleda Zia’s cabin on the fourth floor. The officials concerned have not yet officially given any information about the total number of SSF members who will be deployed for the security of the BNP Chairperson or how security will be ensured.
Earlier, the interim government announced at noon that it has decided to declare Khaleda Zia a Very Important Person of the State (VVIP). All the concerned agencies have been instructed to implement this decision immediately. The decision was taken at the Advisory Council meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna. Later, Planning Advisor Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud announced the government’s decision in this regard at a press conference in front of the Jamuna.
The Planning Advisor said that in the meeting, considering Khaleda Zia’s current physical condition, her proper treatment in the hospital, plans to take her abroad for advanced treatment if necessary, her security and travel facilities and her high status, it has been decided to declare her a Very Important Person of the State (VVIP). All the concerned agencies have been instructed to implement this decision immediately.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has been suffering from various physical problems including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis and kidney complications for a long time. She was taken to Evercare Hospital for a health check-up on the night of November 23. She was admitted to the hospital after tests revealed a chest infection. She is currently under close observation by doctors. Doctors have said that the BNP Chairperson’s physical condition is critical.
