Son sentenced to death in Sirajganj father murder case

A court has sentenced Rezaul Karim Labu to death for killing his father Idris Ali in Salanga, Sirajganj. He has also been fined Tk 50,000. Judge Mahbubur Rahman of Sirajganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-3 gave the verdict on Sunday (September 14) afternoon. In addition, the wife of the deceased, Renuka Begum, and the wife of the death row convict Labu Ismat Ara have been sentenced to three months of rigorous imprisonment and fined. The court’s Assistant Public Prosecutor, Advocate Abdul Latif Akand, confirmed this information. According to the case, on the afternoon of March 4, 2020, the body of Idris Ali was found floating in a pond in Olidah village of Salanga police station in Sirajganj. On receiving information from the locals, the police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. On the same day, the deceased’s son Rezaul Karim Labu filed a murder case with the police station against unknown persons. Investigation revealed that Rezaul Karim Labu himself killed his father. The court announced the verdict today after recording confessional statements and taking testimony under Section 164.
