Son hacked to death over land dispute, father survives with injuries
A teenager named Miraj Hossain (17) was hacked to death by the opposing group over a land dispute in Chuadanga. The teenager’s father was injured during this time. The incident took place at around 11 am on Tuesday (August 26) in Alokdia Notunpara of Sadar Upazila. The deceased Miraj Hossain is the son of Taiyab Ali of Alokdia Bazar Para of the upazila. Meanwhile, the police have arrested two people in this incident. According to local sources, Taiyab and his nephew Babu (43), son of Dukhamia of the same area, had been in a long-standing dispute over the land. Despite several attempts to resolve the dispute locally, no solution was found. Today at around 11 am, Miraj and his father were drying jute in the paddy field of Alokdia Notunpara. Then Babu and Raju ambushed them. Miraj was killed on the spot by a sharp weapon and his father Tayyab was seriously injured. The injured Tayyab has been admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in critical condition. Upon receiving the information, Chuadanga Sadar Police Station quickly reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased Miraj. In this regard, Chuadanga Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khaledur Rahman said that the murder took place due to a family dispute. The police conducted a raid and arrested the accused Babu and Raju from the spot. Currently, legal action is being taken in this incident, the OC said.
