Sohag Murder: Writ seeking directions to form judicial commission

A writ has been filed seeking directions to form a high-powered judicial commission to investigate the brutal murder of a scrap dealer named Md. Sohag (39) in front of Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka. Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ in the relevant branch of the High Court on Sunday (July 13). He told the media that the writ has sought directions to arrest the criminals directly involved in the murder. A High Court bench comprising Justice Qazi Zeenat Haque and Justice Ainun Nahar Siddiqa is likely to hear the writ on Monday (July 14). It is learnt that on Wednesday (July 9) evening, a group of people hit a scrap dealer named Sohag on the head with a stone and brutally hacked him to death on the paved road in front of Gate No. 3 of Mitford Hospital. The elder sister of the deceased filed a murder case with the Kotwali Police Station as the complainant in the incident. And the police filed a separate case under the Arms Act.
