‘Sirajganj Express’ train derailed in Joydebpur
The engine of the Sirajganj-bound Sirajganj Express train leaving Dhaka derailed near Joydebpur Railway Station. The incident occurred at around 5:50 pm on Tuesday.
Station Master Yasba Akhter on duty at Joydebpur Rail Junction confirmed the matter. She said that the two rear wheels of the train’s engine derailed before it crossed the crossing from Joydebpur Station. Since the train was moving very slowly, no other bogies derailed. The train was standing on line number four of the station after coming from Dhaka.
She also said that lines three and four are closed due to the train derailment. However, there will be no disruption to train movement as lines one and two are operational.
The station master also said that news has been given for a relief train to arrive in Dhaka to rescue the derailed engine.
