SIM usage to be reduced before elections: Home Affairs Advisor

Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the number of SIM cards registered in each person’s name will be reduced before the national elections. He said, ‘A person can have a maximum of seven SIM cards.’ He said these things at the end of the 15th meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order this Sunday (October 26) afternoon.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘One person’s SIM card is used by another person to commit a crime. In this way, the real criminal often remains undetected. For this reason, the number of SIM cards registered at the individual level will be reduced. After an incident, it is found that the SIM does not belong to that person. The number of SIM cards will be reduced before the elections.’ He said, ‘We are trying so that a person can register a maximum of seven SIM cards with his national identity card before the national elections.’
At this time, the Home Affairs Advisor also said that all preparations have been completed to make the next National Parliament elections festive. He said, “The level playing field for the elections is 100 percent ready. Now the remaining responsibility is on the leaders of the political parties. I hope they will fulfill their responsibilities.” Home Ministry Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui and Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud were present at the briefing.
