Announcement of siege of the Legal Advisor’s office.
The Legal Advisor’s office will be gheraoed for delaying the formation of a commission to ensure justice in the BDR murder, announced Mahin Sarkar of the executive committee of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He said, “The program will be held tomorrow, Tuesday at 11 am along with the family of the victims of BDR murder”. He made the announcement via a Facebook post on Monday evening.
Hasnat Abdullah declared solidarity for coordinator Mahin. He wrote, ‘I am for my brother Mahin. The BDR murder must be tried. (Hashtag) IamWithMahin.’
Mahin Sarkar wrote in a FaceBook posting earlier, ‘As a small partner of the July mass up rising I, Mahin Sarkar will surround the office of the Legal Advisor tomorrow (December 17th) along with victim family members of the BDR murder. Let nobody go with me; let no one man and woman of entire Bangladesh not stand before me–leaving that rigid position.’
Mahin further wrote, ‘The failure of this interim government to ensure justice for the BDR massacre even after four months of assuming responsibility is an extreme failure. By delaying the formation of a commission to ensure justice for the BDR massacre, this government has taken a stand against the wishes of the entire people of the country. Which is clearly a farce.’
He further wrote, ‘The neighboring country India is spreading confusion by calling the victory achieved by the entire freedom-loving people of Bangladesh in 1971 as their own victory. In such a situation, neglecting the trial of the BDR massacre and not clearly protesting India’s distortion of history is a threat to the sovereignty of our independent Bangladesh.’
Mahin further said, ‘Even if any foreign superpower or this interim government, which came to power in exchange for the blood of thousands of martyrs, takes a stand against me, I will fight to death to ensure the trial of the BDR massacre. Till this trial is ensured, I will not accept any protracted steps in the name of reform activities or the formation of a commission.’. Insha Allah, tomorrow at 11 am, I will meet with conscious students and citizens at the Central Shaheed Minar. Motherland or death.’
