Siblings die mysteriously in capital
Two children, Ilhas Chowdhury (14 months) and his sister Afrida Chowdhury (10), died after eating food in the capital. The incident took place in Hatirjheel around noon on Saturday (December 20). They were taken to two separate hospitals in a state of illness and died while undergoing treatment. The bodies of the two deceased children were sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital morgue for autopsy this Sunday morning.
Hatirjheel Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Sumon Mia confirmed the incident. He said that upon receiving information around noon yesterday, the body of one child was recovered from the Moghbazar Community Hospital and the body of the other child from the Rashmano Specialty Hospital. Later, both the bodies were sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The SI also said that it was initially learned from the family members of the two deceased children that they fell ill after eating food yesterday morning. Later, their close relatives quickly took them to a local hospital. Two children died while undergoing treatment there. He further said that the bodies of the two children have been kept at the Dhaka Medical College morgue to determine the actual cause of death. Necessary legal proceedings are underway in this incident.
