Shuvendu Adhikari is either a fool or an idiot.
West Bengal BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari has threatened to temporarily close the Petrapole land port if the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh is stopped and Chinmoy Krishna Das is not released. If this does not work, he has threatened to completely close the land port from the new year and stop the import of potatoes and onions from India into Bangladesh.
But who is this Shuvendu Adhikari? The one who is suddenly doing such a thing about Bangladesh! He is the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly of India, BJP’s Shuvendu Adhikari. The Indian media Kolkata TV has called him ‘Boy Boka, Nai Morkh’.
Yesterday, on Monday, the state’s opposition leader Shuvendu Adhikari joined a protest rally at Petrapole, the largest international land port in the North 24 Parganas region of West Bengal, across the Benapole port in Jessore, Bangladesh.
At the rally, Shuvendu Adhikari said, ‘Today I showed the trailer of the movie. If the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh do not stop and Chinmoy Krishna Das is not released, the land port will be closed for five days. Then it will be closed continuously in 2025. We will see what happens to potatoes and onions. Our name is Bharatvarsh.’
He also said, ‘In 1971, the Pakistani army chief surrendered. And India will make these new children of the Razakars surrender.’
He said, ‘Bangladesh is a country of terrorists. Infiltrators are coming in from this country. They will be identified.’
When Shuvendu Adhikari was addressing this rally, a short while before, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had protested against the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh in her speech in the West Bengal Assembly. There, she said, ‘Our proposal is that the Centre should request the United Nations (UN) to send peacekeepers to Bangladesh.’
She also said that she would submit a written proposal in this regard to the central government of India.
Besides, Shuvendu Adhikari wrote on social media, ‘Thousands of monks, ISKCON devotees and ordinary traditional people gathered to protest against the arrest of spiritual leaders like Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, unbridled atrocities on Hindus and the desecration of the Indian flag in Bangladesh. We demand that the neighboring country and its interim government must protect the interests of Hindu minorities.’
