Ship carrying rice from Pakistan arrives in Chittagong
A ship from Pakistan carrying Atap rice has arrived at the Chittagong port. At the same time, another ship carrying parboiled rice from India has arrived at the port. A total of 37,250 tons of rice have been brought in by the two ships.
The ships arrived in the two countries this Wednesday morning, said Imdad Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Food Ministry.
Imdad Islam said that MV SIBI carrying 26,250 metric tons of Atap rice to be imported by Pakistan on a G2G basis and MV HT Unite carrying 11,000 metric tons of parboiled rice to be imported from India under the international open tender (Package-05) has arrived at the Chittagong port.
After the sample testing of the rice brought in by the two ships, the unloading process will start today. Necessary measures have been taken for this.
