Ship carrying 1,200 tons of raw materials from Chittagong Port sank
A lighterage ship named ‘MV Zayan’ carrying 1,200 tons of raw materials has sunk at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port. The ship sank near Patenga sea beach on Saturday (October 18) morning.
The port authorities said that MV Zayan, loaded with 1,200 tons of raw materials for the ceramic industry, had left for Dhaka from the main ship located at the outer anchorage of the port last Friday. Later in the night, the ship developed a mechanical fault. Then, while being brought to the coast last Saturday morning, the ship collided with another ship and the bottom of the ship burst. After that, the ship started sinking.
All the raw materials of the ship named MV Zayan have been destroyed. However, 13 sailors are safe. The operation to rescue the ship is underway.
