Sherpur District Awami League Leader Arrested Again After Release on Bail
After being released on bail, Advocate Chandan Kumar Pal (70), former General Secretary of Sherpur District Awami League and former President of the District Bar Association, has been arrested again from the prison gate.
On Tuesday evening (September 9), he was arrested by Sadar Thana Police and DB Police while leaving the Sherpur District Jail.
According to police sources, on October 16 last year, the Immigration Police arrested Chandan Kumar Pal while he was going to India through the Benapole border in Jessore. He was later arrested in several cases filed in connection with the casualties in the anti-discrimination student movement.
Later, he was arrested in several other cases. Although the lower court did not grant bail in that case, he gradually received an order for release from the High Court.
Finally, on Tuesday afternoon, when the bail papers in a case reached the prison, he was released. But he was arrested again as soon as he left the prison gate around 7 pm. At that time, his younger brother Advocate Shaktipada Pal and other family members were waiting outside the prison. In this regard, District DB Inspector Md. Rezaul Karim Khan said, Sadar Police Station has arrested him. We have cooperated.
