Shameful for the Prime Minister to leave political leaders unsafe – Abidul Islam Khan
Abidul Islam Khan, the VP candidate of the Chhatra Dal-backed panel in the DUCSU elections, has criticized the departure of the chief advisor from the airport, leaving political leaders including BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam in an unsafe state.
Today, Tuesday (September 23), he wrote on Facebook, “It is shameful for the Prime Minister to leave the airport while being with political leaders and leaving them in an unsafe state.”
Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has left for New York to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. His entourage includes BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, National Citizens Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasneem Zara, Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs advisor to BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and Dr. Naqibur Rahman Tarique, son of former Jamaat Ameer Matiur Rahman Nizami, will join the delegation from the US.
At New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, leaders and activists of the US branch of the Awami League, whose activities are banned in Bangladesh, pelted eggs at Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), who is a member of the delegation of chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
In response, Abidul Islam Khan expressed his anger. At the same time, Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, convener of Dhaka University’s Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Chhatra Dal, also strongly protested.
In a post on Facebook this morning, he wrote, ‘No matter where the Awami League is, from today there is no mercy… no mercy.’
