Severe cold is coming again
In the early morning of Hemant, the fog peeks out. Dewdrops glisten in the sunlight. The cold wind blowing with it is telling – winter has come.
Although it is not understood that way in urban life, the mood of winter is being noticed in rural towns. The Meteorological Department has said that severe cold is coming this year. The country’s temperature may drop to 4 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said that the people of North Bengal are already getting the feeling of winter in the morning. After the 15th of this month, there will be a feeling of winter in the north-east and north-fifth regions of the country. He also said that the cold current may continue in the months of December and January. However, severe cold will blow in the end of December and beginning of January.
Meanwhile, different areas of the capital have been visited, winter clothes are being sold here and there, delicious pitapulis are sitting on the pavement. Winter vegetables are available in the market. Even if the message of winter is coming, it is not likely that winter will come.
Late this week, moderate to heavy fog and light to moderate fog may occur in northern, northwestern, central and river basins of the country from dawn to morning. Dense fog can reduce the difference between day and night temperatures, increasing the feeling of winter.
According to the long-term forecast of the Meteorological Department, 8 to 10 mild (8-10 degrees Celsius) to moderate (6-8 degrees Celsius) cold currents may flow in the country from this month to next January. However, there may be two to three severe cold spells in the north-west, north-east and central regions. During this time the minimum temperature of the country may drop to 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast also said that in addition to winter, moderate/dense fog and light/moderate fog may occur in north, north-west, central and river basins of the country from late night to morning. Due to dense fog, the temperature difference between day and night may decrease and it may increase the feeling of winter, said the Meteorological Department.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Due to which it may rain in different parts of the country from today. As predicted, the seasonal normal low is located over South Bay of Bengal, with its extension extending to North Bay of Bengal.
A low pressure is likely to develop over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas during the next 36 hours. Due to this, there may be light rain in two places of Barisal and Chittagong division on Sunday. Apart from this, the weather is likely to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country. Night and day temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
