Security worker dies while lowering flag on Victory Day
A security worker has died after falling from the roof of a ready-made garment factory in Gazipur while lowering the national flag on the Great Victory Day. The accident occurred inside the Target Denim and Casual Wear Limited factory located in the Islampur Road area of Naojor under Basan police station of the metropolis on Tuesday (December 16) evening.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police’s Basan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Harun-or-Rashid confirmed the matter. The deceased has been identified as Jahidul Islam. He is the son of Anjab Ali of Karmadha village of Kulaura police station in Moulvibazar district. He was working as a junior security worker in the factory on rent from the house of freedom fighter Salauddin Kabiraj of Naojor under Basan police station of the metropolis.
It is learnt that while lowering the flag from the second floor roof yesterday evening, he accidentally slipped and fell on the concrete below. As a result, he suffered serious injuries to his head and face. Later, he was rescued and taken to the nearby Rahatunnesa General Hospital. After receiving primary treatment there, his condition deteriorated and he was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. After tests, the doctor on duty declared him dead. Target Denim and Casual Wear Factory Director Mirajul Islam said, the factory was closed yesterday. I heard about the death of a worker who fell while lowering the flag. I will tell you more later. In this regard, Basan Police Station OC Md. Harun-or-Rashid said, after receiving the news, the police have been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital to prepare an autopsy report and the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. An accidental death case has been filed in Basan Police Station in this regard.
