Schoolgirl raped on the pretext of buying books, case against head teacher

A teacher in Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila has been accused of raping a schoolgirl (10). The victim’s father has filed a case against the teacher under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act. Islampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge A.S.M. Atiqur Rahman confirmed the case on Wednesday (October 29) afternoon.
The complaint states that the accused teacher raped the girl at Babu’s house in the Gutail area of ​​the upazila on Tuesday (October 28) by promising to buy her books and chocolates. His name is Md. Shamim ul Bashar (40). He is a resident of Gutail area of ​​Chinaduli union in Islampur upazila. He is working as the head teacher of Shildah Government Primary School in Belgachha union of the upazila.
According to local and police sources, the teacher called the girl yesterday morning promising to buy her books and chocolates. Later, he took the girl to an abandoned house near the teacher’s house and raped her. The student went home and first informed her mother about the matter. Later, with the help of others, the family members went to the police station and filed a case that night. The teacher has been absconding since the incident.
Islampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman told us that the schoolgirl was raped after being called by promising to buy her books and chocolates. The schoolgirl’s father has already filed a case with the police station. The schoolgirl will be sent for a medical examination. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
