Schoolgirl commits suicide after being accused of disrespecting her mother

A schoolgirl named Jannatul Islam Munni (16) committed suicide after disrespecting her mother in Tongi, Gazipur. The incident took place in Gopalpur area at 9:30 pm on Sunday (November 9).
The suicide victim, Munni, is the daughter of Ujjwal Mia of Konapanchruki village under Pagla police station in Mymensingh district. She lived with her family members in a rented house in the house of Gopalpur area councilor Mazar Islam Dipur. Munni was a class 10 student of the local Naogaon MA Majid Mia High School.
The relatives of the deceased said that Munni committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her house after disrespecting her mother over a trivial family incident. Upon learning of the matter, the family members immediately took Munni down from the hanging position and took her to Tongi Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. Later, the relatives removed Munni’s body from the hospital.
Tongi East Police Station OC Wahiduzzaman told Jugantor that the deceased’s body was taken from the hospital by his relatives. Legal proceedings are underway in this regard.
