Saudi Arabia, Iran hold phone talks
For the first time, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held important phone talks amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region. In a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry on Thursday (April 9), the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the talks.
They also exchanged views on ways to reduce tensions to restore regional security and stability. Earlier, Reuters reported that Iran attacked Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline just hours after the ceasefire agreement was signed. The pipeline was used as the only route for Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports during the war.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that it had attacked various targets in the region with missiles and drones on Wednesday, including an oil facility owned by a US company in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.
