Saudi Arabia bans loudspeakers during Ramadan prayers
The government has issued a directive that loudspeakers cannot be used during prayers in Saudi Arabia’s mosques during the month of Ramadan. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Sheikh confirmed this information.
Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Sheikh said at a press conference in the capital Riyadh on Wednesday (January 21), “Louders can only be used during the month of Ramadan during the Azan and Iqamat. The use of loudspeakers outside of this is strictly prohibited.”
Earlier, on Tuesday (January 20), Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance issued detailed instructions for mosques to prepare for the month of Ramadan. Sheikh Abdul Latif Al Sheikh made this announcement after issuing that directive.
The guidelines issued by the ministry state that when determining prayer times this Ramadan, mosques must follow the Arabic Umm al-Qura calendar and provide a suitable break for the next prayer after giving the call to prayer once.
