Sarjis in Rangamati: Burning the stage in a fight of words, tearing banners cannot be a political character

National Citizen Party (NCP) Northern Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam said, ‘If we make any mistake, we will correct that mistake. There can be a fight of words in politics. However, burning the stage and tearing banners in protest of words cannot be a political character. This is a fascist character.’ Sarjis said these things at a rally held in Rangamati on Sunday (June 20) afternoon. He said, ‘We are your fellow fighters. If we make any mistake, we always have the mentality to correct that mistake.’ Sarjis said, ‘A few days ago, I unintentionally said something wrong about Bandarban. After that, I felt that I should not have said that. I want to express my regret to you in this regard.’ The chief organizer of the northern region of the NCP said, ‘If someone commits a crime in the Rashtrakathoma and Almatantra, he is transferred to North Bengal or the hilly areas. The people of these regions are not different, so why are those corrupt people given punishment postings. No corrupt officer can be punished through these punishment postings.’ He also said, ‘Senior politicians talk about drowning us in the sea, this proves that we have nothing to learn from them. We want the politics of harmony in the future of Bangladesh.’ After the meeting, the leaders of the civic committee quickly left the meeting venue. Meanwhile, due to the arrival of NCP leader Nasiruddin Patwari in Rangamati, the leaders and activists of the district Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal were stopped by the police at the Kathaltoli intersection while they were going towards the meeting place with a protest procession. At that time, the leaders and activists blocked the road and started demonstrating. They kept shouting slogans against the NCP. Later, the police removed them. On the other hand, all the vehicles in the city were stopped before the NCP rally started in Banarupa. At that time, HSC candidates were facing problems due to the movement of vehicles on their way back after the exams. At that time, the police quickly removed the students from the rally site as they were shouting false slogans. However, the NCP expressed regret for this incident. Additional police, BGB and army were deployed at every intersection in the city to focus on the NCP rally.
