Sachin receives lifetime achievement award
Sachin Tendulkar received the Ajin Award from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Former BCCI Secretary and current ICC Chairman Jay Shah presented the ‘Colonel CK Naidu’ award to the legend for his contribution to Indian cricket at a function held at the board on Saturday.
At the function, Sachin said how important values are in his life. He said, ‘For two years in the nineties, my bat did not have any sponsor. Even after that, I did not advertise alcohol or tobacco. Because, values play a big role in my life. Family education has always helped me move forward.’
He also said, ‘If there was no cricket, we would not be sitting in this room. This is the biggest gift for me. We have the bat and the ball. We have to hold it tightly. If you loosen your grip, it will not work. If your grip loosens, then your career will also gradually end.’
‘I will just say, you have to keep your mind focused and move forward towards one goal. There will be many temptations in your career. It won’t work if you step into it. The country comes first. You have to play for it. There is still a lot of cricket left in everyone here. You have to use that. Because, after retirement, you will understand how much joy the playground was.’
After making his debut for the Indian team in 1989, Sachin retired after playing a Test against the West Indies at home in 2013.
Even after retiring from cricket, Sachin did not go outside of cricket. He is the mentor of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He can also be seen playing in the Legends League. The owner of 100 centuries once again proved that he could not leave the game even after retirement.
