RUST teacher suspended on charges of certificate and fraud

Jewel Sikder, an associate professor of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of Rangamati University of Science and Technology (RUST), has been suspended on charges of using fake experience certificates, forging signatures and concealing information to get a job.
University sources said that Jewel Sikder has been accused of forging the signatures of the head and registrar of the CSE department of Southern University Bangladesh, using fake letterheads, concealing information and receiving financial benefits through these. The university administration formed three separate investigation committees to verify the veracity of the allegations. After the investigation, the committee reports proved the allegations beyond doubt.
Later, he was unanimously found guilty in the 9th meeting of the Board of Regents held on December 17, 2025. As per the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 2018, he was removed from service from the same date and his post was declared vacant.
In addition, the administration has ordered the immediate return of all salaries and financial benefits received since joining the university. It has also been stated that legal action will be taken against those who disobey the order.
